PURIOSO
Born and raised in Oldenburg, Purioso was described at his stallion test as: ‘Good ride, typical stallion with the height of 1.66 m. The movement is good, the hind leg is a bit long’. Purioso was placed 10th out of 32 stallions. In his performance test he received an 8 for jumping and a 9 under saddle.
Purioso is out of an Oldenburg mare Alinda who is by the Holsteiner Martell who was by Trebonius, a Thoroughbred grandson of Dark Ronald. Alina was out of the Westfalien mare, Alice von Buer.
Purioso produced five approved sons with the KWPN: Bentley, Cantor, Cocktail, Faldo and Prince Paradiso R, as well as numerous successful mares – almost half his mares in the studbook received a ‘ster’ predicate. There are four KWPN approved sons out of Purioso mares. One is Consul (sire Nimmerdor) exported to the American Iron Spring Farm. Others include Edwig (sire Zion), No Limit (sire Indoctro) and Tygo (sire Numero Uno).
BREEDING
In recognition of his breeding success, Purioso received the Keur predicate in 1988.
Purioso was an exceptionally prolific sire of competition horses and five of his progeny competed at the Barcelona Games. The best-known competition horses by Purioso are Olympic Wendela and Olympic Cocktail – one a showjumper, the other a dressage horse.
