Apollonious xx possessed all the qualities required for upgrading the breed (KWPN), Two sons from his first crop were admitted to Ermelo and he produced the 3 year old champion at the National Inspection at Bennekom that same year. Apollonious’s offspring all had powerful action.

In 1988 Apollonious xx showed a uniform group of typey well-developed foals, showing attractive heads, strongly developed withers and well-formed muscled backs and croups.

In 1991 a young Apollonious descendant came second at the inspection at Utrache, while in 1992 Apollonious supplied fht Flievoland Champion Mare and Reserve Champion. In Bennekom, hiss offspring claimed a first, second and fourth place and in 1993 tow of Apollonious’s sons were admitted to Ermelo, one of which qualified for the “best trotting stallion competition”. Apollonious’s offspring are in great demand in the sport.

Performance test results in Ermelo 1987:  Character 9; Stable behavior; 9, KWPN described Apollonious as a very calm, intellingent horse with good humour. He is affectionate, honest and obedient. He was of correct build, good uphill confirmation and had a beautiful forearm. Breed value of 124 rideability, of 89%.

He died of colic in 2000 the same year he was recognized as an improvement stallion and given life approval.
